Understanding the Foundation of Athleticism:

Athletic performance relies on these key factors: Strength, Endurance, Agility, Coordination, and Mental Focus. At Odeun, we believe it is critical to implement an approach that strategically builds these aspects. Here is why each one is important:

  • Strength is turned into power needed for explosive movements.

  • Endurance supports sustained effort during longer intervals.

  • Agility trains the body to move in a quick efficient manner.

  • Coordination improves movement quality and execution.

  • Mental Focus keeps you motivated and sharp (overall benefit).

Our mission is to plant a strong fitness foundation to completely transform the lives of those wanting to improve. We focus on being functional. Our belief is that these factors provide advantages to anyone on the journey of self-improvement.

Part of being an athlete is being competitive. You must be in competition with yourself — not with someone else. You must be better than you were yesterday. This ensures that progression is consistently present. In a few months' time you will unlock a completely different version of yourself.

Functional Training in the Real-World

One of the core principles at Odeun is functional training. This puts focus on movements requiring your body to work as one unit. Muscle isolation has its benefits. However, it is crucial to engage multiple muscle groups. Odeun programs incorporate the use of both.

Examples of functional exercises include:

  • Hang Snatches for hip power and explosive movement

  • Pullup variations build body control & enhance power generation

  • Single leg squat jumps improve your ability to generate force quickly

  • Handstand pushups improve balance, control, & upper body strength

These exercises improve the way your body moves in everyday activities. They will make you faster, stronger, & more agile. These examples are more advanced; modifications are provided in our programs.

The Role of Mobility and Flexibility

Many athletes overlook this facet. This is truly what separates elite athletes from the average person. Mobility is the ability of your joints to move freely through full range of motion, a component that will allow your body to grind on more difficult skills. Flexibility relates to muscle length, yet both play a critical role in recovery. It is important to not let your body be restricted due to a lack of mobility or flexibility.

Dynamic stretches and mobility drills can:

  • Improve joint health

  • Improve posture and movement patterns

  • Reduce muscle tightness that limits performance

Before and after training, we encourage our members to actively stretch in a specific way. Opening up and elongating your muscles will help your performance.

Building Endurance

Interval training is key. It will build cardiovascular and muscular endurance efficiently. It will improve your athletic performance, because every system in your body is working together.

Interval training will alternate periods of high-intensity effort with recovery phases. This method improves aerobic and anaerobic systems; a recipe to improve your overall athleticism.

In our programs, this approach is included to save time while delivering significant endurance gains.

Mental Training Techniques

Physical training is only part of the equation. Sharpening your mind will increase focus and motivation in everyday life. Without a sharp tool, it is hard to perform the duty at hand. A sharp mind provides clarity, helping you overcome obstacles in your fitness journey and everyday life.

We recommend:

  • Visualization: Imagining a successfully competitive performance

  • Goal setting: Writing clear progressive tasks aimed in the right direction

  • Mind awareness: Detailed attention to thoughts while embracing the moment

These mental strategies imitate the thinking of athletes during competition.
